By the time the Day 4 of WMCFW rolled around, the weather had let up a little bit so I decided to be adventurous. I absolutely love these thigh-high kitten heels, but they don’t quite exactly fit into my normal everyday wear. Usually I relegate these heels to a chilly night out to help keep myself warm, but other than that, they stay snugly tucked away in the back of my closet. If there was any time to wear them, it would be for Fashion Week.
During Fashion Week, all of the rules are broken. I don’t have to keep to such a strict dress code as I would in the office (not that our dress code isn’t already casual enough as it is), so it’s always fun for me to explore my options and to try different things. I also don’t often dress up as much on an everyday basis since my weekends are spent lazing around in bed or filling myself up with brunch. Comfortable clothes for weekends always win out over anything remotely uncomfortable regardless of how “fashionable” it can be.
Because of the height of the boot shaft, I knew that I wanted to pair it with something relatively short (ha pun completely intended!) but not too short that I would be over-exposing myself to the elements and risk the chance of becoming sick. Obviously shorts were the way to go, but to still cover myself up enough, I paired everything together with my favorite side-slit top from Forever 21.
But still, that wasn’t warm enough. You can’t exactly walk around outside in the beginnings of spring with a pair of shorts and a breezy sleeveless top and expect to be warm. It just doesn’t happen. Plus did I mention that it was seriously windy that day? To block off the wind and keep myself warm, I layered overtop of the white shirt my zipless faux-leather jacket from Zara. You can’t quite close this jacket since there isn’t a zip or any buttons, but its wind-repellent qualities did the trick and I was able to save myself from feeling like a tornado was blowing around underneath my top.
I’ve been quite lazy this Fashion Week when it comes to my hair. Last season around, I had it curled for a few days before tying it up and spraying it down. I had succesfully gone through an entire week without washing my hair after long and careful planning of each day’s style (shhh, please don’t tell anyone!) and with the use of some of the Redken products from the goodie bags, but this time around I went for an alternate route.
I’m planning on having about 10″ taken off when I’m back from Vegas in the next few weeks, so I wanted to enjoy my hair in it’s current state as much as possible. As if taking daily photos of my outfits wasn’t already enough, I wanted to make sure that I had some fun outfits to document my long hair with. My hair grows at insane rates and obviously it will all grow back within due time, but it’s always been one of my defining features, so why not make the best use of it before it’s all gone?
It truly is strange, because of all of the outfits that I put together that week, this one had to be my absolute favorite – regardless of the fact that it required the least amount of time spent on the thought process of what would work well together. Sometimes it’s the simplest of things that work out the best for you (surprisingly). With a couple of alterations to make it more summer appropriate, I can almost guarantee you that you’ll be seeing a variation of this sometime again this summer.

Naturally in typical blogger behaviour, I had to snap a quick photo with these two lovely girls – Mel Inspired and Mai Foking Lookbook. Clearly we didn’t get the memo that sun doesn’t always necessarily mean warmth because we were huddling like crazies in the cold while taking photos. But hey, you do what you gotta do right?
Hilary Macmillan never ceases to amaze me with her expert tailoring and perfect combination of different textures to create the perfect outfit. That fur vest? It’s an absolute want for me, especially when paired with those leather culottes. You guys know how I’m currently feeling about culottes, so I’m a firm supporter of the entire look (minus the lack of bra underneath).
I’m always a strong supporter of activewear, especially when it comes in such bright and motivational colors. Lole’s use of colorblocking and patterning was successfuly beautiful as I left the studio wanting the entire collection for myself. Luckily for us, all of the show-goers received a $50 giftcard in the goodie bags and I recently only just redeemed it for a new sports bra that I was in dire need of (more on it later).
Although I don’t yet own anything from Soia & Kyo, I think I now will. I loved the long sweeping jackets that almost touched the floor and couldn’t get over the beautifully lined fur collars. If there’s something that I definitely don’t need, it’s another winter jacket to add to my collection, but I can’t help but want all of the pieces from their FW15 collection.
While Soia & Kyo celebrated elegance, Rudsak oozed mystery and allure. I couldn’t help but covet the felt hats and high collars that appeared several times throughout the entire collection. And with the majority of the pieces being black, this whole collection had my name writen all over it.
