It’s been a long week. In between working and attending Fashion Week, I’ve had almost no time to blog. Silly me, blogging is what took me to Fashion Week originally, so I should have been on task.
Instead I spent my nights eating out with friends and then coming home to crash before waking back up the next morning to go to work again.
In the past few seasons, I had the opportunity of attending Fashion Week on behalf of work – hence the later work hours and actually having time to keep up with blogging.
This season, I’ve got a new job, new hours, and a whole different sent of responsibilities. Spending a full 8+ hours at work and then attending shows immediately afterwards doesn’t exactly fare well with my body pushing the lack of sleep.
Because of that, I didn’t attend all of the shows this time around. But instead selectively attended the designers that I knew for sure that I was excited for.
That being said, I don’t exactly have a full week’s worth of Fashion Week outfits to share, so in the mean time until the ones that I have are completely sorted through, I’ll share a little outfit that P shot for me a couple weeks back when we went back to Ottawa for Thanksgiving.
That weekend was easily the last “summer” weekend of the season. Albeit summer was already pretty much over, we were granted one last weekend with warm weather and a light breeze.
I don’t know how I do it every year, because sometimes the winters are insufferable, but apparently I weather through it. I wanted to take advantage of of the warmer than normal temperature before parkas become an everyday occurrence.
Before summer ended, I happened upon this ridiculously flirty off-the-shoulder crop top with side detailing and knew that it had to make its way onto the blog. In my past life (more like 5 years ago), this top probably would have been something that I would wear to a club, but this time around I wanted to make it a little bit more appropriate for an everyday look.
Minus the fact that I probably wouldn’t wear this to work in the summer, but as a weekend date with P. Which is basically what we did that day. Essentially we ran around the city grabbing coffee and snapping photos at museums while waiting for the turkey to be ready at home.
To which you’re probably wondering why I’m not actually helping to prepare for the big dinner. The answer is that you don’t want me anywhere in the kitchen when it comes to making anything that involves a stove. I’ll most likely burn or accidentally topple the food onto the floor.
Luckily everybody else seems to know this, so P and I were able to spend some time around the city by ourselves. I won’t be complaining about that! It’s been awhile since we had some time to ourselves, so it was much deserved.
As for the turkey dinner? The obvious reason that I chose this outfit was for the stretch factor of the skirt of course. You’ve got to make room for all of that food to go somewhere!
