Lately I’ve been turning everything that I can get my hands on into a layering piece. I’ve developed this strange affinity for vests that I can’t seem to shake off. There are some pieces in your closet that you can only ever wear to a specific occasaion or with other specific pieces, but I’ve always found that vests can adapt to any situation. This moto vest in particular has already made its round in my daily outfits. I’ve paired it with a bodycon dress, casual T’s and now silkier pieces. You can be certain that it’ll make another appearance in LA.

Instead of purchasing more and more separates, I’ve made a conscious decision (I may look back on it a few months down the road and regret it) to invest in more layering pieces. Particularly vests since they can be interchangeable between the seasons. Cardigans are a little bit more difficult to rotate over into the summer and their bulk isn’t quite as appealling when the weather is warmer. Next up on the list? A white tuxedo vest!

Typically my silkier pieces can push a little bit on skimpy, so my moto vest provided just the right amount of coverage, and the hardware added enough detail to a previously simple look. I was in the mood for something comfortable since I had quite a few errands to run during my lunch hour, so my everyday booties were the perfect option since they’re basic enough to blend in with the outfit, but their silhouette is perfect for workplace casual. And if you’re wondering, the answer is no. I wasn’t cold. I was warm enough with the extra layer over my tank and obviously I had my parka for the outdoor treks back and forth to the subway.
