If you didn’t believe me about the sharp rocks, take a little peak at my shins. Yup, I shot with a band-aid. Absolutely no shame. Why hide the fact that I scraped myself a little while trying to adventure my way across the rocks? Plus, the nude bandaid blended in a little bit better than a giant scab did – at least I think so.
And another surprise, flip flops! There’s absolutely no way that I can travel to any tropical destination without a solid pair of throw-away flip flops at hand. Although I call them my throw-aways, I don’t actually throw them out after each trip. Whenever I travel, I like to explore. Many of the shoes that I typically pack aren’t exactly exploration friendly, and I consider ruining them to be pouring money down the drain. So when I can rely on a solid pair of $3 flip flops from Old Navy to hold me down and not worry about them getting wrecked, they’re definitely throw-aways. Only because I wouldn’t mind throwing them away if I had to.
On our last day in Bermuda, my family and I decided to wake up early to catch the ferry out to the farthest point from port – St. George. We were trying to make up for the short last day of our stay on the island by hopping around town and picking up souvenirs before our ship left. Typically I would have liked to have spent more time at Tobacco Bay, but because of such a tight schedule, we only had the chance to snorkel for about an hour before we packed up and left.
What makes Tobacco Bay stand out from the other beaches scattered around the island? The fact that the waters are so calm and shallow , so far out, that you can literally snorkel amongst the sea life. I spent the entire hour with my face glued in the water chasing after the colorfully striped fish that kept swarming around my feet. I was so absorbed with watching the fish that I didn’t even realize when one got too close and decided that my toe was a subtable lunch. Needless to say, I was done with the snorkeling the minute I felt that chomp. Luckily for me, it was right as soon as we were about to pack up and leave.
I hope that you guys have enjoyed recounting my travels in and around Bermuda. I promise you that I’ll stop taunting you with all of these tropical shoots within a few more posts and then everything will be back to the regularly scheduled content! I hope that you all have a lovely weekend!
