Attending WMCFW is fun, and one of the best things that you can get out of it is forseeing some of the new trends that will be active in the coming seasons. But it’s always necessary to realize that not everything that you see on the runway is made to be worn on the streets. Fashion is an expression of artistic creativity. And even though it may be fun to look at, some of the designs just aren’t exactly the most practical for you to wear.
One of my favorite things to do is translating fashion week trends into everyday wearable styles. Black and white has been a popular color pairing over the last couple of seasons, and it only continues to reign strong in the seasons to come. The only little twist that I’ve noticed is the incorporation of reds and varying shades of pink for the upcoming cooler months.
Since we haven’t completely transitioned over into spring of summer as of yet (it’s a shame because I can’t wait to break out all of my warmer season clothes), I decided to take the chance and have my hand at one of the most popular trends from WMCFW FW15 – pink.
I’ve already tried using pink in my everyday wardrobe before (am I a fashion fortune teller? – just kidding), so finding pieces wasn’t the difficult part. The hard thing to do was putting them back together with other pieces to create cohesive outfits without repeating past ones. Am I on the right track yet?
I do have to admit that I cheated a little bit and incorporated beige into the outfit (whoops!), but kept the rest black to stay true to the B&W + pink trend. Since staying warm is the utmost of my priority, I relegated the shade to a jacket to make sure that it both stood out and kept me toasty. I’ve never been super keen on pink and black as it reminds me too much of my punk-rock and prime Avril Lavigne days, but I think that it’s working out in my favor so far.
