With spring-like weather descending, it’s only fair game that I spring clean my closet. This year I decided to purge through some of my big ticket items that no longer make their way into my everyday life. We’ve all had the misfortune of falling in love with something in-store, only to bring it home and use it once before it never again sees the light of day. And when some of these pieces were originally major investments, donating them just isn’t the solution.
I’ve never quite dabbled with consignment stores in the past, but my mother has too much success. I felt that it would be appropriate to take one of my finds to an online consigner to clear up some space in my closet for a (or even some) new piece(s).
One of the consigned pieces from this year’s closet clean out went to MCouture. I decided to finally let go of my Lavender Rebecca Minkoff Mini M.A.C. since I hadn’t duly worn it out in months. The bag happened to be a love at first site, which quickly turned into a mistake – it was a little after the return policy had expired did I decide that the bag wasn’t for me. Looking back, I can still see why I fell in love with the bag in the first place. The crossbody design is not only functional, but comfortable by evenly distributing the weight of the bag across your body. I also still adore the bright lavender colour, but with all of the desaturated colours that I’ve been wearing, purple doesn’t quite fit into my everyday attire. This bag definitely deserves a better home where it can be fully appreciated and adored.
It was a difficult decision to let go of this bag as it was one of the very first designer pieces that I purchased for myself, but I was ready to move on and to make way for new pieces. After I consigned my bag with MCouture.com, I decided to browse around and see what other individuals had listed. I quickly realized that there were actually quite a few other bags that I want for myself. Which is quite tempting considering the fact that I now have the space for a new one. I think that I’m quickly falling in love with the sustainable fashion movement by creating space for new purchases by consigning old ones as opposed to simply throwing things away.
