It’s all in the details – or so they say. But in fact it’s true. I used to think that if I put together all of the popular trends into one outfit, I’d be the best dressed person out there. I soon quickly learned that that is not the case. Believing that you’re stylish just because you’re wearing every single trend is almost on par with thinking that you look good just because you’re buying designer brand clothes. There’s more to being stylish than just being in the know and having lot’s of money.
The key to being stylish is to be true to yourself and findng out what you like best and sticking to it. For me, it’s the details. I’ve always been drawn to the smaller things in order to customize any outfit for different situations.
Take this Dynamite shirt for example. It’s pretty simple with a basic little cutout detailing on the back for a bit of a change. But although the detailing itself is something different from your basic top, the hidden detail that’s revealed when my hair is blown back is enough to make it special.
But even though the hidden surprise detailing is a fun change, the overall simplicity of the shirt begged for some more details to complete the entire look. Since I don’t typically wear a lot of makeup, I felt that it would be best to accessorize and to go bare faced.
Simple tops beg for detailed bottoms. The first thing that came to my mind were this pair of silky, lace-trimmed, olive shorts. I haven’t worn these in almost a year, mostly because they’re more revealing than I’d like, but with all of this humid weather that we’ve been experiencing lately, I thought that now would be te best time if ever to bust them back out.
The lace trim of my shorts perfectly begins where the hem of my shirt ends, making it appear as if the lace itself was attached to my shirt as a separate layer. Which is actually pretty cool and all, but I don’t want the optical illusion to extend beyond that and have people thinking that I’m not wearing anything on the bottom half of my body.
Because the lace trim was detailed enough as is, I chose to finish off the entire look with just my favorite sneakers and little knapsack that would keep my hands free for grabbing some coffee (because you know how I can get with my caffeine) or anything else that I’d need to do for the day.
