There’s supposed to be this rule where you don’t mix prints since everything will clash together. But what happens when the prints that you’re mixing aren’t even touching each other? Is that rule really a thing then?
But then again I’m not really one to follow rules either. I just go with the flow and wear whatever I like, especially if I think that it’ll look good together. So let’s throw all of those rules out the window because I feel that different prints can definitely be paired together when done properly.
One my commandments for two different prints to cohabit is to make sure that they’re separated by a neutral. In this case, I layered a silk slip dress underneath of my grey tank to change up the spacing between the bloused tied at my waist and my patterned booties. It’s even better when everything is in the same color family so it looks as if it’s all a cohesive set that was actually designed to be paired together. Obviously that isn’t the case because my closet is built around separates, but I focus on pieces that work well with at least 80% of the other things that I own. Otherwise it won’t be worth my investment and my money will have gone out the window.
Oh and did I say that it was about -20 degrees on the day that I wore this? I got quite a few strange looks from others who were bundled up in their deep freeze parkas and snow-trekking boots. But the perks of working in a building connected to a mall means that you’ll never have to step outside of warmth to get anything done.
