Preparing for the Winter with Saks OFF 5TH

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! I just made a major Saks OFF 5TH haul in preparation for the winter and I can’t wait for you to too!

As winter draws near (I heard that it has already started to snow in Ottawa!), now is the time when I begin rotating out all of my summer coats and jackets out of the closet for a complete transition over into my thicker and warmer ones. Gone are the jean jackets and wind breakers, in come the shearling trim and puffer silhouettes. And don’t forget the teddy jackets! Those are quintessential for surviving a Canadian winter!

I recently paid a visit to Saks OFF 5TH to see if I could score some new outwear pieces to spruce up my wardrobe without doing too much damage to my monthly credit card statement, and you bet that I was able to find some gems in the process! There were teddy coats and puffer jackets galore, but I managed to unearth this beautiful faux shearling aviator silhouette jacket. Loyal readers of this blog and of my Instagram may know that I already have a similar jacket in a brown shade, but here is where I come to say that I don’t currently own anything like this in black! If something works, you need it in every colour, right? That’s some solid piece of advice that I was once told, and I’d like to now pass it down over to you.

Ecstatic with my find, and for such a steal (it was 17% off, but there was also an additional 25% off lowest ticketed price promotion applied), I rationalized to myself that with all of the money that I was saving, I deserved a few new accessories to go with the look as well. So why not peruse the accessories aisle? That’s where I landed this beautiful red plaid scarf (I told you that plaid was in!), along with this adorable beige beanie. Something about the fluffy pom-pom affixed to the top was really calling out to me. Luckily for me all 3 things paired well together so I was able to shoot a look to share my Saks OFF 5TH haul, but each one can be worn alone or paired with other pre-existing pieces in my closet for as well.

Now I’m regretting not also picking up that red checkered puffer jacket while I had the chance! Luckily Saks OFF 5TH is hosting another sale from November 7th-19th (you heard it here first!) for all of their outerwear coats and cold weather accessories which will be discounted an additional 30% off from their lowest ticketed price. At 30% off, if you can still manage to locate this jacket in your size, it would seriously be a steal at that point! Fingers crossed that the other red jacket that I liked will still have my size next week. And if not, at least I had the chance to snatch up this black jacket in the process!
