Plaid & Stripes

Plaid & Stripes

Lines are easily one of the only things you’ll ever see on me in regards to a design. I’m not the biggest fan of graphics, so I’ve never been drawn to graphic T’s or tanks. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely do have a couple of them in my stash, they just never quite seem to make it out into the light of day for me to continously warrant setting aside money to buy any more.

I’ve always found stripes to be easier to recycle within your “outfit repertoire” without it being blatantly obvious that you’re wearing the same clothes over and over again (outfit repeaters beware! – I’m just kidding, I’m definitely guilty of repeating outfits as well).

Stripes can either be dressed up or down depending on how you style it. The other pieces of clothing that you put together with it or even the accessories that you pile on can definitely change the way that our entire outfit is perceived – although it’s always better to be overdressed than underdressed. The same can’t necessarily be said about plaid though.

While plaid in itself is quite a neutral pattern, I’ve found that it rubs off as too casual and can’t really be translated into formal setting unless you’re veering towards the territory of window pane patterns. Or gridlock for lack of better words.

Plaid & Stripes

I wanted an ultra casual vibe with this dress so I went for the option of tying around a plaid shirt around my waist. Plus it doubles as the perfect jacket in case the weather ever gets a little bit nippy and I’m in need of something to cover myself up from the cold. Nothing else can quite beat style when it comes to functionality.
