If I was to be totally and completely transparent, I froze my butt off for this shoot. It was one of those days where I woke up, looked outside, saw the sun, and was fooled by the sun. I wish that I could say “fool me once, shame on you, fool my twice, shame on me”, but no. Misreading the weather purely by looking at out how bright it is outside has happened one too many times for me.

I had thought that I could get away with a short dress (one with a plunging neckline and back nonetheless) – boy was I wrong. Not only was it cold out, but the ferocious winds didn’t help to contribute to the weather either. If you look closely at the photos, you might be able to tell that I was struggling with my life to keep my jacket down instead of flying up, around, and whipping me all over the face.

I’ve always been a fan of the thin tie look, though P has never quite gotten into it. It’s one of those things where I wish he’d incorporate into his looks. But sadly, that never happened. So instead of whining and complaining of his lack of tie wearing, I thought that instead I’d give the idea a try for myself.

Thank heavens that the 70s were in over the summer. I got to take advantage of that trend by trying out the female equivalent of the skinny tie. Though it may appear the same, take note that for the female, it is definitely not a tie.

I snagged this little silk skinny scarf from ZARA during their Black Friday sale a couple months back and couldn’t wait to put it in action.

I own a variety of scarves, but never have I owned one this skinny and this long. Seeing the fact that I was trying something new, I wanted to make the look bold and memorable.

I started off with the scarf and built the outfit around it. The obvious choice was to go with a deep-plunging neckline which would allow the scarf to shine.

I went with my navy ZARA dress that has symmetrical necklines on both the front and the back. Actually now that I’m thinking about it, this entire outfit is from ZARA. All purchased at various times, but seamessly pulled together. I guess that ZARA has really kept with their aesthetic over all of these years.

Without explanation, I layered a coat over the dress because it was so cold out. Necklines that plunge that low don’t really provide much protection from the winter winds.

And because I had already done some serious layering over my shoulders, it only felt right to go with a pair of heeled booties.

I’ve been feeling for a neutral tones vibe lately and desperately needed someting that would keep my head warm.

This forest green wool hat from ZARA fit the bill and matched perfectly with the rest of the outfit.

So far I’m feeling this skinny scarf trend but it may have to go back to sleep in my closet for a little awhile until the warm weather comes back around.
