This will be my last Mexico post in the series, unless I decide to do some kind of #ThrowBackThursday or #FlashBackFriday, although I rarely participate in those. The final excursion we took was to the Isla Mujeres, or loosely translated to the Island of Women. If you thought that the ocean images I showed you before were beautiful, you have to come to this island yourself to experience it. Crystal clear turquoise waters crash on the shores filled with soft white sand. All we did for roughly 2-3 hours was travel by yacht across the beautiful body of water until we arrived at the island where we were treated to a delicious afternoon buffet lunch. I had some spare time after the meal so I took a few minutes to lie down in the cabanas strewn across the beach. I could have easily drifted to sleep within a few minutes of lying down had the captain not called everyone back onto the yacht.
We were than taken to another island to explore its markets and to soak up the culture. I happened upon this tree where little monkeys were hung and thought that it was the most adorable thing ever. My brother and I took a stroll through a local grocery store and found these buns, similar to some of the food that we were served back at the resort. I’m not quite sure what these are called so if anyone has an idea please let me know! I would ideally like to find a recipe to recreate them as they were so deliciously light but pleasant tasting.
