If you’ve been following me for awhile then you’ll already know that I’m allergic to the cold. This odd allergy just happened to find itself onto me about 2 years or so back. Cold urticaria is actually quite a common occurence that many people don’t know exists. You know that tingly feeling you get in your hands after you come back indoors from a really cold day outdoors and your body is thawing? That’s a mild symptom of the condition.
However, for myself, the condition extends beyond tingly fingers. Parts of my body swell up and I develop rashes that can last from 30 minutes to an hour. Sometimes they’re so bad that I catch myself scratching for a few minutes straight. The first time that this happened to me, I scratched myself bad enough to leave both marks and scabs. From then on, I made a point of making sure that I dealt with the situation in a differen manner to prevent hurting myself.
From there I discovered a new friend in body butters and moisturizers. I’ve made it a routine to moisturize after each and every single shower so that my skin remains soft and not prone to being dry, which aggravates the itches. The only problem lies within the oiliness of body butters and the residues that they leave on both my clothing and sheets. Beyond that, I had no problem of lathering up myself.
However the one thing that I always detested was the fact that my hands would get all oily after putting on the body butter, which completely contradicts the point of having a shower in the first place. Wasn’t I supposd to be getting clean? Only to have my hands get all dirty again afterwards?
Well, I found a solution! If you want to find out how I make sure my skin is moisturized and how I avoid scratching myself into oblivion, check out the video I put together over on my YouTube channel. You’ll also be able to enter my giveaway for the amazing Nivea gift basket that’s shown below!
