Happy long weekend to all of my fellow Torontonians! This weekend marks an especially special one since the city will be hosting the NBA All-Star Weekend for the first time ever. To add to the list of firsts, this is also the first time that the All-Star Weekend has been hosted outside of the US as well. I guess you could say that the city is going to be quite busy for the next couple of days.
You guys know that I stray as far away from fashion “rules” as possible and one of my most favourite rules to break is wearing white after Labour Day. Another long-standing traditional rule is that you shouldn’t be pairing blue and black together.
The no blue and black rule is actually one that’s completely lost on me considering the fact that both are neutrals with dark tones and should in theory work well together. I’ve found that it’s quite easy to pair the two together so long as you’re using different textures and patterns so that it’s visually interesting to look at.
I’m in love with the edgy vibe that I get from the pleats of this pleather Top Shop skirt paired against the girly bralette-style crop top.
Note: The crop top is navy while the skirt is black. It’s a little difficult to discern the two colours but just letting you know for reference.
I decided to pick a relatively dark navy striped duster coat that would match seamlessly into the black palette of the skirt and my jacket.
I also need to mention that the duster coat underneath my actual coat was very much necessary since it felt like it was almost minus a bazillion degrees out. But you know, do it for the fashion. It probably was not a smart idea for me to be walking about outside with this little clothing on. Luckily I didn’t wind up with a cold.
