Even though we were docked in Bermuda for 3 days, we still had the chance to go back to the ship each day for our dinner in the restaurant, alongside attending some comedy shows and Broadway acts on the mainstage. Getting on and off the ship was a little bit of a hassle since you have to get approved going through the security of both ways, so once we got back onto the boat for the day, we made sure to find things to occupy ourselves before the next morning.
In between coming back on board and getting ready for dinner, I found some time to explore the different decks. The main one on the top contained the pools and bars, but were fairly rowdy for my taste. I wanted to find a place that I could sit back and relax to enjoy the view without having to partake in a pool party at the same time.
A lot of the elevators going up and down the ship (yes, there are elevators on cruise ships! – they are afterall several floors high, ours was about 12 floors in total) face the outside of the ship. Through the glass walls of the elevators, we were not only able to see the ocean flying by, what each floor had to offer as we zipped up and down through them.
I came across this little side deck on one of the middle floors and just knew that I wanted to check it out. It was blissfully quiet with a couple of lawn chairs and deck beds scattered throughout the space. Even though there were a couple people lying around gazing out into the ocean, it definitely wasn’t as crowded as it was upstairs. How much more perfect could it get?
Not much more apparently. I fell asleep on one if the deck beds for what was easily at least an hour before I woke up realizing that I had to go back to our room to get ready for dinner. Besides one man running laps around the deck, the overall hour was crazily peaceful and relaxing.
Besides my “traveling dress”, I own a couple other pieces that can’t exactly be worn to the office everyday – including these silky lace shorts. They don’t appear short from far away, but the lace detailing on the sides definitely reveal more than is acceptable in a corporate setting – but are perfect for a tropical vacation. I think that I’ve somewhat created myself a “vacation” wardrobe with a handful of pieces that don’t often make it out of my closet unless I’m traveling somewhere.
Whenever I’m vacationing, I always make sure to bring a bag that’s both handsfree for me to be able to do other things, and is large enough to carry a camera as well. A personal favorite would be crossbodies, but the majority of the ones that I own aren’t designed to carry more than a wallet and a cellphone. My Dynamite bucket bag was the only obvious choice.
