Frolicking In The Snow And Wishing For Warmer Weather

Frolicking In The Snow

Before we start rejoicing in the warmer weather that this past weekend graced us with, let’s take a minute to rewind back a little bit in time and thank winter for one last snow shoot. I found this set that was taken almost a little over a month back hiding in my harddrive when I was cleaning it out yesterday. Even quickly glancing at the photos I can remember how painfully cold it was that day. I had dragging myself to a park in weather that deemed worthy of a parka (heck possibly even two) and lots of layers. I’m not quite sure what came over me, but I managed to shed my parka and hop around in the white for a few minutes in order to take photos before I decided that hypothermia wasn’t quite my thing.

The only thing I can remember from that day was that how much I hated winter and the cold, and how much I wished it was a sunny day in the middle of the summer. Looking back, I already know that once the sun comes out, I’m going to be wishing for snow again – so goes the mind of a Canadian (you’re always wishing for the opposite weather).

If only it was possible for snow to stay on the ground even when it was a little bit warmer so that the visual effects of snow could be appreciated and not the coldness of it. Unfortunately that isn’t the case, and fake stuff just isn’t going to cut it in the summer.

So unless I have a snow making machine (time to pull a five-finger discount from my local ski lodge), I’ll suck it up and wait another 6 months before the white falls back down again. For now, I’ll take one last glance at it all and attempt to frolick through it before it all melts away into slush – which everyone knows is significantly worse than snow.
