After going through and editing all of the photos from yesterday and today’s set, I can’t help but miss my long hair just a little bit. Oh and the ombre too, I couldn’t forget about that. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my new shorter length, but I’ve been reminiscing a little bit.

I’d say that it’s been almost a little over a month now since I decided to go for the big chop and forgo the long locks. There’s definitely been a learning curve for figuring out how to style my hair differently at its shorter length, but even though I miss being able to create big bouncy curls and waves, the casual vibes of a shorter length have been immensely easier to both maintain and style.

The lack of hair weighing down my head has completely made a difference in my life, both aesthetically and healthily. It’s surprising how heavy your hair can be. Being a science student, I have to refrain from creating causations due to correlations, but I can say for certain that ever since I cut off my hair, I’ve been having less headaches and migraines.

It feels as if I’ve had a heavy weight lifted off my shoulders, back and head, and that my scalp can finally breathe a little again. As weird as it sounds, that’s exactly how I’ve felt since chopping off the locks. I no longer need to spend 30 minutes in the shower just to detangle the crazy tangles, nor do I have to tone my ombre each time to make sure that it doesn’t become brassy.

So as much as I miss my old hair, I have no regrets for the shorter length. If anything, I welcome it with open arms. And if I really do miss my long hair that much, I just constantly remind myself everyday that it’ll regrow back to its length within a couple of years. No joke, my hair grows as if its on steroids, so even if I wanted to keep my hair short, the cost of constantly trimming it could be offset by just allowing it to go its course and grow.

For all of you who are hesitating to chop of your hair, just remember: it grows back. The same way that time heals everything, in time your hair will grow back too. Let’s be a little corny here and go off the books a little bit with the saying “this too shall pass“. Short hair is not a forever thing (unless you make it that way at least). Eventually those Rapunzel-esque lucious locks will grow back and you won’t even miss them anymore once you’re spending a solid half hour trying to wash out the tangles again.

So do I miss my hair? Yes – absolutely! Do I want it back? Not now, but eventually down the road it would be nice to have the length again – updos are just so much more fun with longer hair! But for the time being, I’m content with my length and wouldn’t ask for more.
