Although blogging can be all fun and games, there are some serious problems that you run into when living in a country that has all four seasons. Escaping the cold is one of the biggest problems that I run into. When it’s a hot summer day, I can still manage to quickly go outside for 20-30 minutes to take photos since I’m already wearing light clothing. In the winter, regardless of how much I wear, it’s always cold. And I can’t wear my jacket in every photo, or else every single photo would look like the exact same thing – my parka.
Although I do wish that I could wear my parka in each and every single post. It would make my life easier since I wouldn’t have to be so cold while taking photos outside. Unfortunately, I don’t wear my parka at work or indoors, so wearing it in each photo wouldn’t reflect my daily outfit. And what I wear indoors isn’t exactly appropriate for the -30 degree weather that we’ve been experiencing.
While many people would just say “then just take your photos indoors“, another problem which falls under the same roof is my attachment to natural lighting. I’m a huge proponent for using the sun to light my photos. Why? Because I’d look like a fool dragging around lighting everyday at lunch just to spend 30 minutes taking photos. Obviously for a formal shoot, lighting becomes a priority and I’ll arrange to have the proper set up, but for my everyday lunch shoots, that isn’t exactly a possibility.
Fortunately for my #bloggerproblems, I found a balcony in the mall connected to my office that’s beautifully lit by natural light. There is a frosted glass sunroof overhead that to diffuses the light so that it doesn’t even create any of the harsh shadows that I sometimes run into when shooting outdoors. Problem solved? Only temporarily since I still enjoy shooting outdoors to being indoors,. But until the snow melts and the temperature rises, this will do to escape from the cold.
