Easy 4-Ingredient Dinner Rolls

Easy 4 Ingredient Dinner Rolls

Yup, I’ll admit it. I’ve finally succumbed to baking—but not banana bread. I love bananas, and I love banana bread, but I firmly believe in eating my fruits as fresh as possible. Although I wouldn’t say no if someone else baked some for me, I’m just not about to put my perfectly decent bananas into an oven. There’s got to be at least one person out there that gets me!

The actual reason why I succumbed to baking was due to my incessant scrolling on TikTok this past month. You read that right, I’ve been on TikTok and I’ve been obsessed with the app. I didn’t join to do the dances, or to watch other people dance. In fact I can’t dance to save my life. When I first joined I wasn’t sure what to make of it, but the algorithm picks up pretty quickly from the videos that you like and serves you content that better suits your preferences. Now, my feed is full of makeup tutorials, puppy videos, plant hauls, and best of all—tips. If there’s something that TikTok has, it’s life tips.

My ‘for you‘ page recently spat out this easy 4 ingredient recipe last week and when I glanced at the ingredients, I realized that I had everything available in my pantry and instantly had an urge to try it out. It’s not everyday that you see greek yogurt being called for as an essential ingredient in a baking recipe—at least not for me.

But honestly this recipe is so simple that you could probably make it in your sleep. I’ve since modified it a little bit to suit my liking, and will probably continue to modify it to try out different variations, but if you’ve been itching to bake some bread but have been unsuccessful at acquiring yeast, then this is the recipe for you!

Easy 4 Ingredient Dinner Rolls

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time:
30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup greek yogurt

Method

  1. Combine the dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking powder) together into a mixing bowl and mix thoroughly.
  2. Mix in the greek yogurt until all of the dry ingredients have been combined together with the greek yogurt. (Note: we only had vanilla flavoured greek yogurt available at home, and it actually gave the dinner rolls a slight sweetness and vanilla flavouring, highly recommend!) Continue to fold together the ingredients until you’ve created a dough ball.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  4. Scatter some flour across a flat surface.
  5. Gently roll the ball of dough into a log atop of the flour ensuring that it doesn’t adhere to your flat surface. Cut and separate the dough into 8 equal parts.
  6. Roll each portion into a little ball.
  7. Cover your baking sheet with parchment paper. (Note: we sprinkled some flour across the parchment paper to prevent the dough from sticking to it when baking as it is extremely sticky, but this is completely optional.)
  8. Place the 8 balls equally spaced out on the parchment paper. (Optional: we sprinkled some sea salt over top each of the dinner rolls for additional flavour.)
  9. Bake in the oven for approximately 30 minutes or until a nice golden brown.

And there you go! Easy as that. Now you have 8 dinner rolls to snack on. These taste absolutely delicious with butter, olive oil, or any spread that you can think of. Personally, I’ve kind of been using them as miniature slider sandwiches and devouring them with salami and brie cheese wedged inside. In all honesty, now that I’ve made at least 2 batches of these and realize how easy they are to make, I just might start making mini sandwiches to bring over to any future potlucks dinners. They’re so ridiculously easy and delicious, plus you can customize the filling to be whatever you like. I’m sensing a caprese sandwich of sorts on the horizon…

Let me know if you give this recipe a try and what your favourite ways to consume these dinner rolls are. Enjoy!
