Even though my trip to Vegas was for work, you simply don’t go to Sin City without taking the time to lounge, shop, explore the strip and knock back a couple of drinks. In between sorting out a chaotic booth situation on the first day (we visited to attend NMX) and getting ready for a night out at XS, we had a little bit of time to lounge by the pool and enjoy the sunshine. Luckily for us, we took full advantage of the sun on the first day, because the rest of the week was surprisingly windy and chilly. Windy to the point where the pool had to be closed.
Yes I’m rocking out my reflective sunglasses again, but I couldn’t help it! They’re so much fun to wear, and I have to say that they go surprisingly well with my swim suit. This was completely unplanned during the packing process since I didn’t even have any idea which swimsuits that I had packed. I keep a couple of them stored inside of a Triangl tote bag, and everytime I travel, I just grab the bag and go. There’s a variety of different styles in there so that I don’t have to worry about looking the same during my entire trip. I planned it out so well that I don’t even have to check when I grab it, but the only pitfall is that I forget what’s inside since I rely so heavily on it that I don’t even bother to check.
We stayed at the Encore, and since it was both connected to the Wynn and shared a couple of pools, I had come with the intention of stopping by each one at least once during the trip. Unfortunately, our “lounging” sessions were cut short by “inclement weather” – yes that’s actually what the closing signs in front of the patio said – and we were stuck left walking the strip. But hey, I’m not going to complain, one of the main attractions of Vegas is its strip so why not walk it?
But the wind didn’t stop there. It followed us throughout the entire trip, almost to the point where we were almost blown off of a set of staircases while walking back and forth in between shopping trips and back to Encore. If you’ve ever been to Vegas, then you’ll know those strange little bridges that connect one side of the strip to the other, and the insanely high staircases that you have to scale to go up and down the bridges. Now imagine the wind being so strong to the point where you almost feel as if you’re going to tumble down the stairs. Yes, it was a struggle.
Besides chilly and windy weather preventing us from being able to appreciate some down time, the rest of the trip was spenting checking out the clubs, so any down time was valued. We partied for two nights back-to-back in a row (a first for me!) at both XS and Omnia, and any rest regardless if it was in bed or not was needed. I’ve always admired people who have the energy to go out two nights in a row and still have the energy to wake up the next morning and go to work. That’s definitely not my thing.
I don’t know if it’s because I’m an old grandma now, but even partying for one night requires almost an entire week to recuperate. Granted you can’t go to Vegas without checking out at least one of the clubs, so I just took it as a “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” mantra and went with it. I can now definitely say that I’ve partied in Vegas, but, it’s not something that I’d go out of my way to do on any future trips to Vegas.
