Although Pantone has declared that the color of the year for 2015 is Marsala, to me it seems to be camel. I can’t stop wearing my camel coat, and realized that it’s been in some serious rotation as of late. So instead of wearing it down to pieces, I remembered that I also own a pair of camel/mustard colored pants which were hiding in the back of my closet that I’d picked up years ago but never quite made a point of wearing. The smarty-pants in me back then must have clued in to the versatility of the color and went ahead and grabbed it anyways. Fortunately I have another camel piece now and won’t have to go out running to invest in more items to add to my closet.
The ankle height of my booties hit at a slightly awkward length, which forced me to roll up my pants or risk looking like a 90’s highschooler with super tight skinny-jeans and wrinkly ankles. I’m not going to lie though, I definitely played into that trend, but it’s not something that I want to do now unless shortening my stature is a good idea.
Since I wasn’t in the most creative of moods, I wanted everything to be overall fairly simple. Black on the top and bottom was too dark for the day (the sky was ridiculously blue), so my knitted and speckled white sweater did the trick. You may think that I’m crazy for going out in the winter with just a sweater on, but obviously the logical answer is no, I definitely didn’t do that. I’ve recently been reaching for many of my layering tanks whenever I’m wearing a loose knit sweater since it adds an extra layer without the bulkiness. Kind of like spanks for the top half of my body, except I use it for warmth as opposed to shaping. Anyone up for a caramel sundae?
