Top, Pants, Vest, Heels, Bag, Jewelry – c/o Le Chateau
It’s the weekend! But I can’t seem to stop thinking about what to wear for the next week. A month ago, I had the opportunity to shoot for a lookbook with Le Chateau. I was tasked with the goal of putting together and styling an office appropriate outfit that complemented my personal aesthetic. I’m so excited to share with you the outfit that I pulled together and the thought process that resulted in the pieces that I selected.
One of the biggest topics of debate when it comes to office wear is how to make an office appropriate outfit also suitable for a night out on the town afterwards. My goal was to build an outfit out of a variety of pieces that would both work well together and alone. Professional attire can get expensive, and I find it illogical to invest so much money into a wardrobe that can only be worn for 8 hours of the day. So finding pieces that would translate well alone in both a professional and casual setting was a secondary component to my criteria.
A couple weeks back, I shared that a blazer vest is one of my capsule pieces for any young professional’s wardrobe. Thrown over anything, and the outfit is instantly (more or less) suitable for a formal work environment. Keeping in line with the same mentality, I chose a blazer vest for out my outfit and selected more casual pieces to be layered underneath.
If you dissect my outfit, It’s actually a pair of black joggers (got to have comfort), and a collared tank. Without the vest, the outfit works for dinner, drinks, or even a night out with friends. What’s best is that I can throw on the vest later on in the week over top of a completely different outfit and no one would know the wiser.
And in keeping with my monochromatic palette, I chose light-coloured accessories that would be offset against the dark outfit. I made sure that all of the accessories as well would be well translated into other occasions.
