Happy Sunday! Today I wanted to take the time to share some love for a local brand that I’ve been a fan of for a while now – Peace Collective. What started out as a fairly small but well-loved company seemed to blossom overnight last summer and is now taken the city of Toronto by storm. I recently attended an event to launch their new collaborated collection with Mendocino and am so proud that a local brand has experienced so much success – and well due success.
I’m not one to wear sports gear memorabilia, which is what the “Toronto vs. Everybody” slogan is typically perceived as, but I like to take it on a slight spin and put my thoughts on it. To me “Toronto vs. Everybody” is s stance in solidarity. You’re either with us, or against us. Peace Collective has adopted this frame of mind and has released a limited edition design with the 6dad, Norm Kelly, as part of their Canadian Built series – which features influential Canadians. The Norm Kelly capsule collection aims to donate 100% of its proceeds to Woodgreen (a charity that focuses efforts on Syrian refugees) to help show that Toronto can be a home for anyone.
I couldn’t be prouder of a local brand for not only succeeding, but in their willingness to give back as well. It’s rare that you see companies who are willing to be gratuitous, and even then do they donate 100% their proceeds towards a cause.
