On my recent trip to New York, I took a lot of photos – outfit photos being the obligatory ones. I won’t weigh you down on words since my last post kind of detailed my time there. It consisted of a lot of walking around, tons of coffee and not a lot of down time.
Surprisingly we didn’t really go out and do anything crazy. Call me a grandma or whatever, but I’ve kind of started to appreciate what I can see in front of me instead of creating that “fun” and hype life.
If there’s one thing about New York, it’s all of the amazing photo opportunities and beautiful backdrops and settings. I can see why it’s so easy for all of the bloggers there to have such beautiful photos.
The buildings are tall enough for it to be “sunnily overcast” all day long. What with skyscraper shadows being cast everywhere, you never really have to worry about a lens flare. Oh the struggles of lens flares here in Toronto.
The only downside that I found to that was that it felt like the sun actually set faster then it would here. By 4 PM in the afternoon, if you look up into the sky, it’s bright blue and crystal clear. But down on the floor level, the heavy shadows being casted makes everything feel as if it’s 3 hours ahead of time.
In between the gorgeous tall pillars and the white marble that helped to reflect light in the waning sun, everything about it was perfect. I only had to do some minimal color editing to these final photos, so you can see just how perfect all of the circumstances came together.
How bloggers are able to find the time within the short hours of daylight to take photos is completely beyond me.
But making up for it is the amazing backdrops to shoot up against. New York is filled with old beautiful buildings made out of stone and marble (my fav) so it was more than easy to fun places to shoot in front of. I mean, how could you not want to shoot in front of a place as beautiful as this?
On our explorations during the first day, we happened upon St. Patrick’s Cathedral and just knew that a photo-op would be in session.

I just knew that I wanted to juxtapose the beautiful marble against something a little bit out there and combined my TRIANGL bikini top with a deep-V cut dress for a different look that I’d never wear in Toronto (but more about that on a later day).
