What I hate the most in the summer is the constant transition from hot to cold. Wherever you go, there’s always either AC or some sort of cooling fan blasting, but to the point where it almost feels like it’s winter again. When you’re running around in shorts and T’s to combat the heat and humidity of the summer, walking into a freezer isn’t exactly the best for your immune system.
I’ve often gotten sick purely from just constantly walking in and out of temporal changes. From the burning 40 degrees weather outside, so the 18 degrees chill inside, the rapid changes of temperature don’t really do me well.
And considering the fact that summer is the best time to be out and about doing things with your friends, being sick is the last thing that I want. Well, let’s get it straight, I’d rather never be sick to begin with, but I’d prefer if it would wait till winter so that I can enjoy the nice sunshine that we’re getting right now.
Because of the constant temperature fluctuactions, I’ve taken to constantly bringing a cover-up with me wherever I go. Sure, I get the strange look every now and then when I whip out a jacket in the dead of summer, but if it’s going to save me from getting sick, then I’m going to do it. No judgers will stop me from escaping from the frigid AC found inside of buildings.
The majority of my jackets are quite long and extend down to mid-thigh – which can look good when I’m wearing pants, but not when I’m wearing shorts. The last thing that I want, is to perpetuate is the idea that I’m not wearing anything on the bottom half when seen from behind. Long jackets and short shorts don’t necessarily always mix, unless being naked on the bottom is your thing.
I paired this light-colored denim jacket that I picked up from a sample sale a couple months back with a cotton striped T to ensure that I wouldn’t freeze my arms off indoors, and finished the look with my favorite linen short-shorts. These shorts are the epitome of short since they basically mimic the silhouette of underwear. But hey, at least they’re covering my underwear! It could definitely go a lot worse.
I wanted to keep the rest of the look simple since I was just wearing this to and from work, so Chucks were an obvious choice. Along with my basic studs, all that I needed to wrap everything up were my trusty aviators.
